If you have ready-made mashed potatoes, the process of making potato dumplings is simplified. If not, then prepare puree. Wash the potatoes, peel them, cut them into pieces (to make the mashed potatoes cook faster), and boil them in salted water. We drain the water.

Salt and pepper the potatoes and mash them, let them cool a little.
STEP 4

Beat the egg into the puree, add butter, mix the mixture thoroughly.
STEP 5

Add flour to the puree and knead the dough.
STEP 6

It turns out to be a sticky dough.

Sprinkle the surface on which we are cooking generously with flour, lay out some of the potato dough (it is better to do this with a spoon so that the dough does not stick to your hands), dip your hands in the flour and begin to roll the dough into a rope. Cut it into small pieces and form dumplings of any shape.

The shape does not affect the taste, the main thing is to make the dumplings the same size, this is important for the cooking time. Dip them in flour so that they do not stick together or stick to the plate. There is no need to be afraid of flour; the excess will be washed off during cooking.
STEP 9

Bring salted water to a boil in a saucepan and submerge the dumplings in parts. When they are in the water, carefully stir them with a spatula to lift them from the bottom. When all the dumplings have risen and the water has boiled, cook them for 2-3 minutes and remove with a slotted spoon.
STEP 10

Finely chop the onion and fry in butter until golden. Place the dumplings in a frying pan with the onion and fry them, stirring constantly for 5 minutes.
STEP 11

All is ready. If desired and to taste, serve dumplings with sour cream. Bon appetit!
