Donar in Turkish

Turkish-style shawarma with chicken fillet and the right sauce! This recipe has the right sauce. It tastes exactly the way I remember it, personally, since the late 90s. Donar in Turkish is another version of shawarma, which many of us love, but are often afraid to buy, not being sure that it is prepared impeccably and under sterile conditions. Having prepared it at home, you will enjoy your favorite dish, and you will know exactly where and how it was prepared. Fears of this kind are indeed not in vain. We made sure that the sauce that is used to season both shawarma and donars has a very short shelf life and even in the refrigerator turns sour very, very quickly. What can we say about small, stuffy stalls! Therefore, donar must be eaten fresh! Remember this!

I specifically don't have foil in these photos, but lately I've been making only with it - it's truly a godsend! Be sure to wrap it in it. It holds the shape, temperature and juice inside the donut perfectly!

Just the appearance alone makes you want to try this unusual dish. I think its taste is not inferior to its appearance, the composition of the sauce is very tempting, and in combination with the filling, it’s just class. I would like to know the recipe for the pita itself.

Thank you for your pleasant review, Alla! At first I bought pitas. In large department stores, the Mexican section has the best burrito pitas. Whole urlons of pita from the Bread House and other cotton companies are also sold. Now I make it myself according to this recipe: Ingredients: 400 gr. flour 1 pack. (7 g) dry yeast 1 tbsp. spoons of olive oil 1 tbsp. spoons of salt 240 ml. water Recipe: Mix flour, yeast and salt. Add water and oil. Knead. Let it rise for about an hour. Knead and divide into portions. Roll each into a flat cake. Place on a baking sheet, cover with a towel and leave for 10-15 minutes. Bake in a preheated oven (200 gr) for 6-8 minutes. Ready!

Thank you for the recipe, I will definitely make it. Did you happen to make a mistake about the salt, maybe it was too much?

Oddly enough, they do not turn out over-salted.
