  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make compote from chokeberries and apples for the winter? For the compote you will need: chokeberry (chokeberry), apples, water and granulated sugar.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Wash jars for compote in advance with soda and sterilize in any way convenient for you. Since my jar has a metal clasp, it cannot be sterilized in the microwave. That's why I put the wet jar in the cold one! oven upside down, after removing the sealing ring. And I sterilize for 15 minutes at a temperature of 120 degrees. I simply pour boiling water over the O-rings for three minutes. If you have regular metal lids, it will come

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Wash the apples under running water and cut them into four parts and remove the seed pods.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

If you have fresh rowan, you need to wash it and sort it from the branches. If it's frozen, just pick it up. Place apples and rowan berries at the bottom of a sterilized jar.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Fill the jar with boiling water from a kettle, for example. You need to pour boiling water in the middle, on the apples. That is, not directly on the glass, so that it does not burst. Cover the jar with a lid and leave for five minutes to warm the apples inside.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

After this time, carefully pour the water from the jar into the pan, holding the jar with oven mitts so as not to get burned.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Add sugar to the pan and bring the syrup to a boil over low heat, stirring constantly until the sugar grains are completely dissolved.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Using a ladle, pour the syrup back into the jars. Don't forget to pour boiling water over the ladle in advance! Microorganisms can also live on it, which will prevent the compote from standing all winter. Try to fill the jar as much as possible up to the neck. If there is not enough syrup, just add boiling water to the jar.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Roll up the jars with lids and wrap them with a thick towel. If you have roll-up jars, it would be better to turn the already rolled-up jar of compote upside down and wrap it like that. The jars must cool completely before they can be stored.

I made a compote of chokeberries and apples for the winter. Unfortunately, this year I only had a few small tassels of berries on my chokeberry, so I put them in compote. I used three-liter jars, so I increased the amount of sugar using the site’s calculator. I didn’t cut the apples into slices; I just cut out the core with the seeds with a sharp knife. Due to the small number of berries, the compote turned out to be not as bright in color as the author’s, but it will still be tasty and healthy! Thanks for the recipe, Unicorn Steak!
