    Peel the onion and cut into small cubes. I used red onions, but regular onions will work too.

    Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan. Place prepared onions and chicken pieces into it. Cook them together over medium heat until the chicken is white and the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add spices to taste: salt and ground black pepper, you can add paprika, it will give a pleasant taste and a beautiful shade to the dish. You can add any other spices if you wish. Stir and leave the dish to simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally so that the sauce does not burn to the bottom.

    The sauce should reduce and thicken a little. If you wish, you can add grated hard cheese to it, it will make the gravy even thicker and more flavorful. Turn off the heat and let the chicken sit in the creamy garlic sauce, covered, for 10 minutes. Serve the dish with or without a side dish, sprinkling chopped fresh herbs on top.
