STEP 1
How to make chicken in sour cream sauce with garlic? Prepare your ingredients. If you wish, you can use chicken fillet or a whole bird, cut into portions. I will cook the fillet. Thaw the chicken fillet first if it was frozen. Wash it, dry it on a paper towel and cut it into small pieces.
STEP 2
Peel the onion and cut into small cubes. I used red onions, but regular onions will work too.
STEP 3
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan. Place prepared onions and chicken pieces into it. Cook them together over medium heat until the chicken is white and the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
STEP 4
Peel the garlic cloves and pass through a press or grate on a fine grater.
STEP 5
In another frying pan or in a thick-bottomed saucepan, place a piece of butter and melt it over low heat.
STEP 6
Add wheat flour, stir quickly so that the flour does not form lumps. Add garlic and sour cream passed through a press. Pour in some water. Mix everything quickly. Bring the sauce to a boil over low heat, stirring occasionally with a spatula.
STEP 7
Pour the sauce into the pan with the chicken fillet and onions. Add spices to taste: salt and ground black pepper, you can add paprika, it will give a pleasant taste and a beautiful shade to the dish. You can add any other spices if you wish. Stir and leave the dish to simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally so that the sauce does not burn to the bottom.
STEP 8
The sauce should reduce and thicken a little. If you wish, you can add grated hard cheese to it, it will make the gravy even thicker and more flavorful. Turn off the heat and let the chicken sit in the creamy garlic sauce, covered, for 10 minutes. Serve the dish with or without a side dish, sprinkling chopped fresh herbs on top.

Chicken in sour cream sauce with garlic goes well with almost any side dish; it can also be served as a separate dish with fresh vegetables and herbs. Bon appetit!
