How to stew capelin with onions in a frying pan? Prepare everything you need for this. If the fish is frozen, take it out of the freezer in advance so that it defrosts at room temperature. Wash the capelin and dry it. There is no need to clean it. The fish is quite small, it is not convenient to clean it. And after cleaning, it will simply fall apart during cooking. Sour cream and milk can be used at any fat content. The higher the fat content of the sour cream, the thicker the sauce will be.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Peel the onion, rinse and finely chop.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Pour a little vegetable oil into a hot frying pan and fry the chopped onion for 1-2 minutes until transparent.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Then place the capelin in a frying pan and fry it along with the onion over low heat for 5-7 minutes. The fish cooks very quickly.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

In a separate glass, mix milk and sour cream. Add salt and fish spices. Stir until no lumps of sour cream remain. I use a ready-made fish spice kit.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Pour sour cream sauce over the fish, bring everything to a boil and simmer the fish under the lid over low heat for another 2-3 minutes. To prevent the fish from falling apart during cooking, there is no need to stir frequently.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

During this time, the fish will have time to soak in the creamy taste. Remove the pan from the heat and serve hot. Delicious!

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

The ideal side dish would be mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. Bon appetit!

Mm..what a delicious recipe I found on the website and cooked capelin stewed with onions in a frying pan. I’ve stewed capelin and onions in water before. But here the addition of sour cream gave the dish a completely different taste, more delicate and rich. Finely chopped the onion and fried it in a frying pan. I added whole capelin and fried it along with onions. Mixed milk with sour cream, added salt and spices for fish. I poured the sauce over the fish, stirred gently and simmered for a few minutes. Delicious.....no words! Many thanks to Yulia M for the idea! I recommend trying it.

I prepared capelin according to this recipe, using only the spices salt and black pepper. ground, oh my God, what an aroma, you can really eat it with a spoon. As a child, my mother cooked something similar, but mine turned out tastier. I wish I had some homemade sour cream... Thanks to the author for the recipe.
