  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make candied apples from apples in the oven at home? Prepare your food. Take hard apples, ones that do not soften during heat treatment. Choose fragrant, tasty apples - they will also make delicious candied fruits. Instead of lemon juice, you can use citric acid, you will need a quarter of a teaspoon.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Wash and dry the apples. Cut them into pieces 3-4 mm thick. These can be rings, slices, semicircles, bars. You can remove or leave the core with seeds. I left both the center and the stem so that I could use the candied fruit to decorate other desserts. Try to make the pieces the same thickness so that they cook evenly.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Next, prepare sugar syrup. Pour clean cold water over the sugar. Add lemon juice (or citric acid).

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Place the pan on the stove and bring the water to a boil. Cook the syrup at a low simmer for 5-7 minutes, then add the apples to it. Boil the apples over low heat for 5 minutes. Then turn off the heat and cool them completely.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Place the pan with the apples back and bring to a boil. Boil the slices again for 5 minutes over low heat. And then cool them again. Repeat the cooking-cooling process a couple more times. The amount of cooking will depend on the hardness of the apples. I only cooked mine 3 times because they started to fall apart. Harder varieties can be cooked up to 5 times.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

When the apples have cooled after the last cooking, use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a sieve or colander. Leave the apples in it for a couple of hours so that all the syrup completely drains from them.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Take a baking sheet and line it with parchment. It is better if it is siliconized - it will be easier to remove the slices from this. Place the apples on a baking sheet in a single layer. You will learn all the subtleties of choosing parchment by reading the article at the end of the recipe.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Place them in the oven, preheated to 100°C, top-bottom mode. Dry the apples for 2.5 hours. Then take out the baking sheet, but do not turn off the oven yet. Cover the baking sheet with new paper and place the apple slices on it, turning them over to the other side. The times are approximate, use your technique as a guide. Read about ovens in a separate article under the steps.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Return the tray with the apples back to the oven. Dry them for another 2.5 hours. Then remove the apples and cool. Transfer candied fruits to a container. Store them at room temperature. Bon appetit! Candied fruits can also be cooked in a special dryer.

Thanks for the recipe. I'll definitely do it. As an option, I will offer apple chips.

This year there were a lot of apples, and we already ate them, made compotes and made jam. And there are still a lot of apples left. I came across a recipe for candied apples made from apples at home. I decided to try it. For testing, I took the same number of apples as the author (600 grams). Making candied fruits turned out to be quite easy. I boiled the apple preparations 3 times. It took a total of 5 hours to dry. The candied fruits turned out to be very tasty, sweet, aromatic. This is an excellent alternative to store-bought sweets! Thank you very much for the recipe!
