  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make a cake with roses from fondant? Prepare the necessary ingredients. You can make the mastic yourself or buy it ready-made. You will also need forms for cutting out petals and leaves, toothpicks for attaching roses, a lemon fork, scissors and a brush. You can decorate any cake this way. The cake must be covered with a thin layer of buttercream. It is better to keep it in the refrigerator before decorating so that the cream hardens completely.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Roll out the fondant into a thin pancake large enough to cover the cake.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Carefully, so as not to damage the mastic, cover the cake with it. Trim the edges with scissors. The remaining mastic will be used to form roses. They should be placed in a bag so that they do not dry out in the air.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Using your fingers, create a drape on the sides of the cake.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

This will simulate a tablecloth on the table.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Divide the remaining mastic into two parts. Roll one part into a small pancake and apply red gel dye to it with a toothpick.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Knead the mastic. It should acquire a uniform color. Roll out the mastic into a thin pancake.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Using a round shape of the desired size (a glass or a special shape), cut out circles - these will be rose petals. For one rose you need at least 7 circles. Prepare a small container of water.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

How to make roses for a cake? Wrap the first petal into a tube.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Lightly lubricate the tube with water and wrap it with the second petal. Lightly knead the edges of the petal to make it look more natural.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Again, lubricate the resulting bud with water and wrap it with the third petal.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

And so, petal by petal, make a rose.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Thus, make the number of roses required for decoration.

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

The roses will turn out oblong, and they will not look good on the cake. Therefore, use scissors to trim the ends of the buds.

  15. STEP 15

    STEP 15

Paint the second piece of mastic, obtained from the remnants of the cut edges, green. Roll out the green mastic into a pancake and cut out leaves from it.

  16. STEP 16

    STEP 16

Using scissors, make notches on each leaf like real rose leaves.

  17. STEP 17

    STEP 17

Using a lemon fork, draw veins on the leaves.

  18. STEP 18

    STEP 18

Let the finished roses and mastic leaves dry a little.

  19. STEP 19

    STEP 19

Now you can start decorating the cake with roses. Brush the cake with water using a brush.

  20. STEP 20

    STEP 20

Place roses and leaves beautifully on the cake.

  21. STEP 21

    STEP 21

To decorate the sides of the cake with roses, you will need toothpicks cut in half. Carefully insert half of the toothpick into the rosette.

  22. STEP 22

    STEP 22

Attach the roses with toothpicks to the side of the cake. It is convenient to do this with tweezers so as not to crush the roses.

  23. STEP 23

    STEP 23

While the mastic dries to a stable consistency, do not let the decorations settle. Correct them periodically. The flowers and leaves can be prepared a day or more in advance. Then the decorating process will be easier. Enjoy your tea!

My son asked me to make a cake with roses from mastic when he saw it in the photo. And I thought that March 8th was a great occasion to make it. My cake was made of sponge cakes with a diameter of 20 cm. I took 500 grams of mastic for this amount. Before decorating the cake with fondant, I covered it with buttercream and left it in the refrigerator for about 2 hours. I cut out circles for the roses using a glass with a diameter of 5 cm and a jar with a neck with a diameter of 3.5 cm. I put the finished roses in small jars to dry them a little. I cut out the leaves with a simple knife, since I don’t have a special mold. I decorated the bottom of the cake with the remains of green fondant. The cake turned out very impressive and beautiful. The children were pleased, and the adult half of the family appreciated it. Thank you very much for the recipe!
