  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make apple jam at home for the winter? Prepare the necessary products. From the specified amount of ingredients you will get approximately 500 ml of jam. It is advisable to take juicy, sweetish apples with a bright aroma and moderately loose pulp. Hard and dry apples may not cook well and the jam will not be as appetizing.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Wash the apples thoroughly, use a sharp knife to cut each apple into four parts, cut off the peel from each “quarter” and remove the core.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Cut the peeled apple pulp into thin slices and place in a thick-bottomed pan.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Add water and half the granulated sugar to the apple slices in the pan. Depending on the type of apple, you may need a little more water. If the apples are not so juicy, then increase the amount of water.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Stirring, bring apples, water and granulated sugar to a boil. Boil the mixture over low heat for about 30 minutes. The apples should begin to soften little by little. Don't forget to stir the jam!

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Add the remaining sugar to the apples, stir and cook over low heat for about another hour. The jam will gradually become thicker and thicker.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Also, don't forget to stir the apple jam!

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

While the jam is cooking, prepare the container for canning. Rinse jars of a suitable size thoroughly with hot water and baking soda, then carefully pour boiling water over the jars and lids. Boil the jar lids for five minutes.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Fill sterile jars with hot apple jam and seal tightly with sterile lids.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Without turning over, wrap the jars in a warm blanket/plaid/scarf and leave in this state until they cool completely. Store the finished jam in a dark, dry place. Happy harvesting!

We continue preparing for the winter) This time I made apple jam. I used a convenient calculator and quickly calculated the amount of sugar I needed, because... I have a larger portion of apples. I didn’t peel the skin off the apples, the apples are fresh, summer grade, the skin literally “dissolves.” The jam cooked very quickly, my color is darker, it probably depends on the type of apple and the cooking time. Apple jam gels perfectly after cooling, I like it) The jam turns out fragrant and super tasty! Suitable for tea and baking. I recommend everyone to try making this apple preparation!

For 1 kg of apples, I put a maximum of 700 grams. sugar, and I think even reduce this amount of sugar.

It turned out very beautiful and tasty, but it’s jam, not jam. I thought the apples would boil and it would turn out to be jam, but that didn’t happen.
