Apple and orange jam
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make apple and orange jam? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. I use seasonal homemade apples; they are sweet and a little soft. Choose an orange with a whole, strong skin. If desired, during the process of making jam, you can add cinnamon and anise to it. The weight is indicated in chopped form. You will learn all the subtleties of preparing winter preparations by reading the article at the end of the recipe. Sterilize the jars. Read below for how to do this.
STEP 2
Wash the selected apples under running water, dry, cut off the stems and core. Cut the apples into cubes, size as desired, I cut them very small so that the apples and orange are the same size. Wash the orange very thoroughly, you can even use soap, dry it and cut it into small cubes (or the same way you cut the apples). Apples and oranges are cut in their peels and the weight of the already cut fruit is taken into account.
STEP 3
Take a deep bowl or pan, preferably one that does not oxidize, place chopped apples and oranges in it, add sugar, stir. Leave for 1-4 hours to allow the fruit to release its juice. I left the fruit on the counter at room temperature.
STEP 4
After a while, when the apples and oranges give juice and the sugar dissolves a little, transfer them to a saucepan or saucepan. Read how to choose a pan for making jam in a separate article at the end of the recipe.
STEP 5
Place the pan over low heat and bring to a boil. When the sugar melts, turns into syrup and boils, you can add spices to taste: cinnamon or anise. Then the jam can be cooked in one batch over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the desired consistency is obtained. Or in several stages: boil the jam for 5-10 minutes, turn off the heat, and cool completely. Put it on the fire again, and so on 2-3 times. I made my jam several times.
STEP 6
Cool the prepared delicious jam from apples and oranges for the winter and place in sterilized glass containers, close with clean lids. Store the finished apple and orange jam in a cool, dark place. It has a very beautiful color, and the aroma of citrus fruits and apples is simply stunning. The jam turns out very tasty. Bon appetit!
