Amber pear jam slices
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make amber jam from pear slices for the winter? Prepare all the necessary products. To make jam, I advise you not to take too ripe pears - they will boil and you will end up with porridge. Take dense and elastic fruits, hard to the touch. I took regular white sugar. But now there are many different types of sugar: you can take coconut and it will give the jam a light coconut aroma, or cane sugar - it will give a caramel shade.
STEP 2
Wash the pears well - it is best to use a special fruit cleaner and a brush for this procedure. Cut off the stalks, remove the seed pod and cut into slices about 3-4 mm thick.
STEP 3
Place the chopped pears in the bowl where you will make the jam (it’s best if it’s a thick-bottomed bowl). You will learn how to choose the right pan from an article on this topic, the link is at the end of this recipe.
STEP 4
Add sugar and leave for several hours to allow the pear to release juice. Do not add water to the jam under any circumstances: there should only be fruit and sugar.
STEP 5
When the fruits give juice, place the dishes on low heat. At this stage, lovers of spicy jam can add their favorite spices: vanilla sugar or vanilla, cinnamon, ground ginger, cloves, and nutmeg are perfect. You can also take vanilla pods, cinnamon sticks, clove buds (only then do not forget to remove them from the finished jam), ground spices are also quite suitable - one pinch of each seasoning will be enough for the aroma.
STEP 6
Bring the jam to a boil and simmer over low heat for 40 minutes, constantly skimming off any foam that forms on the surface.
STEP 7
Cook until the jam thickens and acquires a beautiful amber color.
STEP 8
Wash the jars with soda and sterilize them in any convenient way. I put jars of water in the microwave for 5 minutes, but you can also sterilize them in the oven or steam. Wash the lids and boil.
STEP 9
Place the finished pear jam in transparent slices into jars and close or roll up the lids. You can spread the jam either hot or cooled. Sterilization is not required. This jam is stored in ordinary apartment conditions.
