Step-by-step preparation

Cooking timeCooking time: 2 hr 30 mins
  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make a yeast pie with an egg in the oven? Measure out the required ingredients. Warm the milk slightly.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

In a small bowl, combine the yeast, 1 tsp. sugar (of the total amount) and about 50 ml of lukewarm milk. Stir. Leave the mixture for 10-12 minutes to activate the yeast. A fluffy yeast “cap” will appear on the surface.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Sift the flour into a wide, spacious bowl to saturate it with oxygen. This is an important point that helps the dough rise better. And the resulting baked goods will be more fluffy.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Melt the butter in the microwave or over low heat on the stove. Cool the oil a little.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

To prepare the dough, select a large bowl. Beat the egg with the remaining sugar and salt until smooth.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Pour in the rest of the milk and stir.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

    Add activated yeast, stir lightly.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Pour in not hot butter and vegetable oil, stir.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Pour about 3/4 of the flour into the mixture of liquid ingredients. Do not pour out all the flour at once; you may need less of it than indicated in the recipe. Mix the dough first with a spoon.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Add the rest of the flour in small portions, while mixing the dough with your hands. Watch its consistency.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

Knead a soft, tender dough that does not stick to your hands. It should not be steep, otherwise the baked goods will be difficult to rise. Cover the bowl with the dough with a towel and leave for 60-80 minutes to rise. The rising time may vary, as it depends on the temperature, dough consistency, and yeast activity.

  12. STEP 12

    STEP 12

Prepare the filling. Be sure to wash your eggs before using them, as even seemingly clean shells can harbor harmful bacteria.

  13. STEP 13

    STEP 13

Boil the eggs hard. How to hard boil eggs? To prevent eggs from cracking during cooking, place them in cold water and cook over low heat. Boil the eggs for 7-8 minutes after boiling, then cover with cold water and cool. The shell will be better cleaned from a sharp temperature change. Peel the eggs, cut into small cubes.

  14. STEP 14

    STEP 14

Wash the green onions, dry them, and chop them finely.

  15. STEP 15

    STEP 15

In a container of suitable size, combine prepared green onions, eggs, and grated cheese. Salt the filling a little, but take into account the saltiness of the cheese. Mix everything well.

  16. STEP 16

    STEP 16

The dough has risen. It increased in volume by 2.5 times.

  17. STEP 17

    STEP 17

Knead the dough and place it on a table dusted with flour. Divide the dough into 3 unequal parts. A larger piece of dough is for the bottom of the pie. The two parts of the pie for the top will also be unequal: one is slightly larger than the other.

  18. STEP 18

    STEP 18

It is better to start forming the cake from the top. Roll out a larger portion of the dough into a round layer. I got it with an approximate diameter of 20 cm. Using a dough roller or a knife, cut the middle of the layer into 16 parts, not reaching the edges.

  19. STEP 19

    STEP 19

Also roll out the second part of the dough for the top with a slightly smaller diameter (mine is 16 cm). Cut the dough into 4 pieces around the circumference.

  20. STEP 20

    STEP 20

For dough cut into 16 pieces, bend the triangles one at a time to the edge of the layer.

  21. STEP 21

    STEP 21

Take the largest circle of dough cut along the circumference and place it in the middle of the layer with the triangles folded back.

  22. STEP 22

    STEP 22

Then bend the triangles bent to the edges towards the middle, and, on the contrary, bend the ones lying next to them towards the edges.

  23. STEP 23

    STEP 23

Place the next smaller circle of dough in the middle.

  24. STEP 24

    STEP 24

Repeat with the triangles and place the third circle of dough.

  25. STEP 25

    STEP 25

Bend the ends of the triangles towards the center.

  26. STEP 26

    STEP 26

And cover them with the smallest circle of the layer cut along the circumference. Press down lightly.

  27. STEP 27

    STEP 27

Roll out some of the dough for the bottom of the pie (mine is about 23 cm in diameter).

  28. STEP 28

    STEP 28

Using a rolling pin, transfer the dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Place the egg filling on the dough. Leave the edges of the dough free.

  29. STEP 29

    STEP 29

Carefully (also using a rolling pin) transfer the formed top and cover the filling. Connect the edges of the dough in a convenient way.

  30. STEP 30

    STEP 30

To make the cake even during baking, you can put a springform ring on it.

  31. STEP 31

    STEP 31

In a bowl, beat the egg with milk until smooth.

  32. STEP 32

    STEP 32

Brush the top of the pie with the egg mixture.

  33. STEP 33

    STEP 33

Bake the pie in an oven preheated to 180 C for about 30 minutes until golden brown. The cooking time and mode depend on the operating characteristics of a particular oven, and therefore may differ from those indicated. Be sure to take this into account.

  34. STEP 34

    STEP 34

Cool the finished pie slightly, cut into pieces and serve. It will be especially tasty when warm. Bon appetit!
