Yeast dough braid
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to bake a braided yeast dough with filling? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Melt the butter in a water bath or in the microwave and let it cool.
STEP 2
Mix warm milk (no more than 40 degrees) with dry yeast. Add butter, egg, salt, sugar, vanilla sugar. I did everything in a planetary mixer. You can simply mix everything in a bowl. You will learn all the intricacies of working with yeast and vanilla sugar by reading the articles at the end of this recipe.
STEP 3
Sift the flour and gradually add it to the bowl. Stir with a spoon until it works.
STEP 4
When it becomes inconvenient to mix with a spoon, place the dough on the table, add flour if necessary. You may need a little less or more flour, check the consistency of the dough. Read about the properties of flour in a separate article at the end of the recipe.
STEP 5
Knead the dough for about 10 minutes. It should become smooth, elastic and not stick to your hands.
STEP 6
Place it in a cup, cover with a towel or cling film and put it in a warm place for an hour. You can put it in a slow cooker, or sometimes I put it in the oven with the light on.
STEP 7
The dough will rise, but not much.
STEP 8
Wash the apple, peel and remove the core. Grate the apple on a coarse grater and pour in lemon juice. If you have a very juicy apple, then it is better to chop it finely, since when grated it will give a lot of juice, which will need to be squeezed out and drained.
STEP 9
Grate the marzipan or chop it finely. For convenience, you can put it in the freezer for half an hour.
STEP 10
Divide the dough into 3 parts.
STEP 11
Roll each part into stripes. Place the filling of apples and marzipan in the middle (as in the photo). Protect the edges of the workpiece.
STEP 12
So do all three parts. Place the strips side by side. Seal the edges at the top.
STEP 13
Braid the hair, tucking the ends under. This is how my braid turned out. Transfer it to a baking tray lined with baking paper and let it stand for half an hour. At this time, preheat the oven to 180 degrees. If you wish, you can coat the braid with beaten egg, so it will have a beautiful blush.
STEP 14
Place the baking sheet in an oven preheated to 180 degrees and bake for about 25 minutes. The times are approximate, please be guided by the operating characteristics of your equipment. Read about the operation of different ovens in the article below the steps. Check readiness with a toothpick; it should remain dry when pierced.
STEP 15
I poured glaze over the cooled braid. To make the glaze, place the powdered sugar in a bowl and gradually add water. Stir until smooth. Spoon over top. The braided yeast dough with apples is ready! Enjoy your tea!
