Vietnamese iced coffee

Delicious, chilled, refreshing drink! The very name of the drink speaks volumes about its contents. This is cold black coffee, which is served with various additives: milk, condensed milk, ice cream, sugar, syrup, alcohol, but in any case, always with ice.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make Vietnamese iced coffee at home? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. For this drink, it is better to use 100% Arabica coffee, but since we will make Vietnamese coffee with the addition of condensed milk, a coffee variety with 10-20% Robusta is also suitable. Choose natural condensed milk without milk fat substitutes.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

It is best to make this type of coffee from freshly ground beans, but there is no need to grind them into dust: there should be no coffee grounds in the drink. It is better to use medium-roasted beans; very dark roasting will cause bitterness. Ideally, use real Vietnamese coffee, which differs from other varieties in its softness, lack of sharp bitterness and a rich palette of taste sensations.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

I brewed coffee in a Turk, but you can use an aluminum coffee maker with filters, which is used in the homeland of this drink. Calculate 2 tsp. ground coffee per 150 ml of water. And when brewing coffee in a Turk or preparing it in a French press, the drink should be additionally filtered. Cool the coffee, you can do this in the classic way - under natural conditions. With rapid cooling, freshly brewed coffee is instantly cooled by a heat exchange system.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

In Vietnam, special condensed milk for this type of coffee is sold. You can get any good condensed milk from us. Measure the required amount of condensed milk into a glass. Then pour in the chilled coffee and stir.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

You can use any ice (of any caliber); for this, use bottled water, not tap water.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Place ice in the bottom of a long narrow glass and fill the glass two-thirds full. Next, pour ice over coffee and condensed milk. Serve the drink to the table. Vietnamese coffee is usually served with a straw and a teaspoon. This drink differs from the usual taste of coffee, it harmoniously combines notes of vanilla, chocolate, caramel, spices and cream, it gives a long pleasant aftertaste and perfectly quenches thirst on hot summer days. Bon appetit!

Coffee for me is a great way to cheer up not only in the morning, but throughout the day. I usually drink hot coffee. I tried it chilled with ice several times and liked it. Today I decided to try Vietnamese iced coffee. Essentially, it turned out to be the same iced coffee, but with the addition of condensed milk. I made coffee in a coffee maker. The ice was already in the freezer from ordinary boiled water. I generally don’t like coffee with condensed milk, but I really liked it chilled. Moderately sweet, invigorating, refreshing. An excellent option for hot weather. Thanks for the recipe!
