    Beat the butter (softened) with sugar until fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, stirring. Add vanilla sugar and stir. Separately mix flour with baking powder and salt and combine both masses, kneading into a homogeneous dough.

    Grease a baking sheet (preferably a rectangular one) with oil or place parchment paper on it. Place the dough on top, washed and dried pitted cherries on top of the dough. Bake in a preheated 180C oven for 45 minutes. Then leave the cake on the baking sheet for 10 minutes and let cool completely on a wire rack.
