  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to stew pork liver in sour cream and onions? To prepare, prepare all the necessary ingredients. You can use sour cream of any fat content. Peel the onion and rinse in cold water. If the liver has been frozen, first defrost it by transferring it from the freezer to the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. Rinse it well and remove all films and ducts.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Cut the peeled onion into half rings or a little smaller. There is no need to cut it very finely, otherwise it will not become visible at all when stewing. It is better to cut it so that it is noticeable in the finished dish.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Heat the frying pan until hot and pour in a little vegetable oil. Place the chopped onion in a frying pan and fry it in oil over low heat until golden brown, 3-4 minutes. During this time, the onion will become softer.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

At this time, take care of the liver. Cut it into pieces of approximately the same size. This is necessary so that all the pieces are cooked at the same time. For ease of slicing, the liver can be frozen a little.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Then place the chopped liver in the pan with the onions. Stir and cook everything together for 5-7 minutes, covered, over medium heat. Stir occasionally so that the liver is evenly fried on all sides.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Add a little water to the sour cream to make it easier to mix everything. Mix sour cream with salt and spices.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Then pour the sour cream into the frying pan with the liver, stir and simmer under the lid for another 5 minutes. There is no need to cook the liver for a long time. To bring it to readiness, 10-12 minutes are enough. If pork liver is left to stew for a long time, it becomes tough and not tasty.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

The finished dish of stewed liver can be served as a complete lunch. Or add a side dish of mashed potatoes. Bon appetit!

Stewed pork liver in sour cream and onions was perfect as an independent dish for dinner. I cooked it a little longer than indicated in the recipe (about 30 minutes). First, I simmered it for 10-12 minutes under the lid with fried onions. Then I added sour cream, diluted with water, as indicated in the recipe, and simmered for another 15 minutes. I did not add flour, the gravy thickened well without it. For spices I used ground black pepper and bay leaf. Instead of salt, I added 3 tablespoons of soy sauce. It turned out to be an excellent hearty dish! Thanks for the recipe!

The recipe for stewed pork liver with sour cream helped me out just when my culinary imagination had dried up and I couldn’t figure out what to make for the second course. Cooking is as easy as shelling pears, but what could be tastier and more tender? Great with pasta and amazing with mashed potatoes! The family rated it 5, and now I know how to diversify the menu. Thanks to the author for a good idea!
