STEP 1
How to bake pork knuckle in foil in the oven? Prepare the necessary products. Take a shank that is not very large, about 1 kg, otherwise it will take a lot of time to bake it. Use naturally fermented soy sauce. The mustard can be absolutely any kind, and we replace fresh garlic with garlic powder. Turn on the oven to 180 degrees in advance.
STEP 2
Dissolve mustard in soy sauce, stir well so that there are no lumps. The marinade for the shank is ready.
STEP 3
Wash the knuckle and dry it. Use a sharp knife to make several deep cuts in the skin. This procedure will help prevent skin tightening.
STEP 4
Peel the garlic and cut into slices.
STEP 5
Insert garlic slices into the slits.
STEP 6
I don’t recommend salting the shank; soy sauce is already salty enough. Generously coat the shank with marinade on all sides - this can be done in a separate bowl or immediately in a heat-resistant baking dish, after covering it with a large piece of foil. Leave to marinate for 20-30 minutes.
STEP 7
Place bay leaves on top. You can also add your favorite herbs and spices, as well as peppercorns or a slice of lemon.
STEP 8
Wrap the foil tightly. Make several punctures in it with a toothpick to allow steam to escape.
STEP 9
Bake a 1 kg shank for about 1.5 hours at 180 degrees. If the knuckle weighs more, bake it longer. To get a golden brown crust, unwrap the foil about 20 minutes before the end of baking. Serve immediately while the shank is hot. Bon appetit!
