  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make orange jam at home? Prepare all the ingredients needed for this. Of course, you need to choose juicy, sweet, ripe and fleshy oranges. Dry fruits with a large number of dense films and partitions are not suitable for this version of jam since the pulp itself is required to make orange jam!

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Rinse oranges and lemon thoroughly in running water. To do this, you can use soda, a special product for washing fruits, or take a moderately stiff brush to better clean the fruit skins. Using a special zester or a regular fine grater, remove the zest (the juicy, colored part of the skin without the white pulp) from oranges and lemons.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Cut off the white, dense skin from the peeled fruit. Now the most labor-intensive and meditative process is separating the pulp from the films. There is a lot of information on the Internet on how this can be done most simply and effectively. As a rule, peeled citrus pulp is used in various types of salads, but we will make jam from it.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Cover the juicy pulp obtained as a result of the efforts and the orange and lemon juice released during the separation process with sugar, stir and let stand for a while until the sugar is almost completely dissolved. The mass of sugar should be equal to the mass of citrus pulp!

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Transfer the mixture to a saucepan (not aluminum), add the zest and stir. Cook the orange jam, stirring over low heat after boiling, until the desired thickness is obtained. A drop of jam, when placed on a dry saucer, should not spread quickly; the drop should be viscous and slowly flowing.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Cool the finished jam and transfer it to a dry container. If you plan to store the jam for a long time, sterilize the jars. To do this, wash the cans of baking soda and place them, damp, upside down in the oven. Preheat the oven to 150 degrees and sterilize 0.5 liter jars for 10 minutes. Wash the lids and boil. Place the still hot jam into jars, close the lids, turn over, wrap and let cool. Store in a cool place.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Serve aromatic orange jam with zest as an independent dessert, or as an addition to homemade pancakes, pancakes, pancakes or cookies. Bon appetit!
