  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make mulled wine with red wine at home? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. For mulled wine, red table, dry, semi-dry, semi-sweet or sweet wine is suitable. You should not take fortified ones, because when heated, they inevitably release a pungent odor of alcohol, which overpowers the aroma of spices. I have a minimal basic set of spices, you can change it and add it to your taste.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

The wine in mulled wine cannot be brought to a boil, so to reveal the aroma of spices, they are added to boiling water. It is better to take whole spices, as powdered ones can end up in the finished drink, which is not very pleasant. Place the spices in a saucepan and fill them with clean water. The resulting mixture must be brought to 100 degrees. Bring the water to a boil and turn off the heat, let it brew for 10 minutes. When the time is up, pour the broth into a sieve.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Then pour red wine into the pan, add sugar to taste and the prepared spice broth. Over low heat while stirring, heat the wine to 65-70 degrees. As soon as steam and the first bubbles appear, remove the drink from the heat. Under no circumstances should the wine be brought to a boil! After this, cover the pan with a lid and let it brew for 5-10 minutes.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Serve red wine mulled wine in tall clear glasses or ceramic mugs that can retain heat for a long time. As a snack, you can serve shortbread cookies, pies and unsweetened fruits. Mulled wine also goes well with meat dishes.

The recipe for such mulled wine will come in handy soon, I’ll save the recipe. Alternatively, you can add citrus fruits, for example, orange, to such a drink.

During the cold season, you just want warm, warming drinks. Mulled wine with red wine is one of these drinks. I had everything from spices except nutmeg, so I cooked without it. I also decided not to add sugar, for my taste it’s too much. During the cooking process I wanted to add a slice of lemon, it fit well into the taste picture. It turned out aromatic and warming! Thanks for the recipe!
