Minced hedgehogs with rice in a frying pan with gravy

A quick, convenient and satisfying dish for the everyday table! I like minced hedgehogs with rice in a frying pan with gravy because they use raw rice, which is immediately placed in the minced meat. No preliminary preparation. And minced meat can be bought ready-made from any type of meat.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make minced hedgehogs with rice in a frying pan? Prepare the necessary ingredients for this. We will prepare hedgehogs from two types of meat - pork and beef.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

The first step is to turn the meat into minced meat. To do this, cut the pork and beef into pieces and pass through a meat grinder.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Peel the onion and rinse in cold water. Finely chop one onion and add to the minced meat.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Rinse the rice several times in cold water and then add it to the bowl with the minced meat. Add a little salt and spices to taste.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Mix all ingredients well until smooth. The meat mass will be dense enough to form into balls.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Pour a little vegetable oil into a frying pan and heat until hot. With wet hands, form the minced meat into balls and place in a hot frying pan. Fry them on all sides.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Heat another pan separately. Finely chop the second onion and fry with a small amount of vegetable oil for 2-3 minutes. Then add tomato paste to the onion and heat together with the onion for another 1-2 minutes.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

While frying the onions, the meat balls have already been fried on all sides.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Place the meat hedgehogs in a frying pan. Add water and bring everything to a boil. Cover with a lid and simmer over low heat for 20-25 minutes. During this time, the rice will become soft and increase in size. The grains of rice will stick out from the meat balls in all directions and will look like hedgehogs. The amount of water can be slightly changed depending on how much gravy you want to get.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

Meat hedgehogs are ready! An excellent addition to them would be mashed potatoes.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

    Bon appetit!

Children especially love these hedgehogs, but adults also eat them with appetite. I recommend a dietary version of the dish - turkey hedgehogs with rice.

Everyone in our family loves meatballs with rice. And my daughter calls them hedgehogs, as in the recipe) I made them for dinner, the children even eat them just like that, as a snack. The only meat I had was lean pork. I used long-grain rice, which becomes like “needles” during cooking. I ground the meat in a blender, but also finely chopped the onion, so the meatballs turn out juicier. For spices, I have dried dill and a little black pepper. The minced meat molds perfectly, does not fall apart, I sculpted it with wet hands. After frying, the “hedgehogs” were still “bald”) But as soon as I added the filling to the pan, the rice began to intensively absorb water, I even had to add a second portion of tomatoes. This is where the “needles” appeared)) Almost all of the filling was absorbed. So if anyone needs more gravy, don't skimp on the water. "Hedgehogs" are very tasty, filling and soft. They look delicious! The main thing is that the children liked it) Thanks for the recipe!

An interesting and not complicated dish! I really decorated these hedgehogs like real hedgehogs, so the child devoured them by both cheeks)) The ingredients are easily accessible, it doesn’t take long to prepare, and I also liked that these hedgehogs can be served either separately or with potatoes or noodles. Thank you for the delicious and beautiful recipe!

I prepared “hedgehogs”) It turned out quickly, simply and tasty, without any problems. Only I made my own small changes, put half the boiled rice and half raw. Added greens. My family really liked it.

I decided, as in the recipe, not to add an egg... I regretted it because they fall apart when frying. But I also added carrots, finely grated; I also add them to fish cutlets. It turned out delicious!!! Thank you! 🌟I don’t make tomato sauce: my family doesn’t like it
