    STEP 1

How to quickly pickle mackerel without brine at home? It's very simple. To begin, prepare the necessary ingredients according to the list. You can use fresh or frozen mackerel. If you use frozen, before salting it must be properly defrosted on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. You can add more bay leaves if you want a more flavorful fish. I will show you how to salt whole fish and cut into pieces.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Gut the fish, remove the fins and gills. Rinse thoroughly and dry with paper towels. Leave one fish whole.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Cut the second into pieces about 3-4 cm thick. Decide for yourself whether to leave the head. I salted the whole fish.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

In a bowl, mix coriander, ground black pepper, sugar and salt.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Place the whole mackerel on a sheet of parchment. Rub inside and outside with some of the spice mixture. Place a bay leaf in the belly.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Place the mackerel cut into pieces on another sheet of parchment and sprinkle with the remaining spices. Break the bay leaf into pieces and sprinkle it over the fish.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Wrap both fish in parchment and place on a plate. Place the fish in the refrigerator for 20-24 hours.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Dry salted mackerel without brine is ready. You can serve it to the table after removing excess salt. Bon appetit!

I decided to quickly cook mackerel without brine at home. I cut the fish into fillets, rubbed it with a mixture of salt, sugar, black pepper and coriander, added chopped bay leaf, wrapped it in parchment and put it in the refrigerator for a day. The fish turned out moderately salted, very tasty and aromatic. With boiled crumbly potatoes - what could be tastier?! A very convenient and very successful option for salting mackerel. Thanks for the recipe, Maria!
