How to Boil Corn on the Cob in a Pot

STEP 1

How to cook corn? Prepare your food. Sweet and sugar varieties of corn are best suited for cooking. Forage varieties are tough, try not to take them. Also, do not buy already peeled cobs - with leaves, the corn will retain its juiciness longer. The leaves should be green and fresh, the tendrils should be slightly damp. Young cobs with milky white or light yellow grains are best suited for cooking.
STEP 2

So, start by rinsing the selected ears of corn well. Then clean it of leaves and tendrils. Do not throw away the leaves, they will be useful for cooking.
STEP 3

Take a large pan that can easily accommodate corn cobs, and place the remaining corn leaves on the bottom. You can read about how to choose a suitable pan in the article, the link to which is at the end of this recipe.
STEP 4

Place the peeled corn on top of the leaves.
STEP 5

Then fill the cobs with water until it covers the corn 1 centimeter above. Place the pan over medium heat and wait until the water boils. Cook the corn with the lid open until done. Depending on the variety and youth of the fruit, this takes from 40 minutes to an hour.
STEP 6

Once the corn is ready, remove it, place it on a platter, rub with salt and sprinkle with oil. If you are not fasting, you can grease the corn with butter. Serve to the table. Bon appetit!
