Homemade classic dumplings with cherries and kefir

STEP 1

We prepare the necessary ingredients for making delicious dumplings with cherries.
STEP 2

Pour four hundred grams of sifted flour into a large bowl and add one tablespoon of sugar to it.
STEP 3

Add one third of a teaspoon of baking soda to the bowl.
STEP 4

Pour half a teaspoon of salt into a bowl.
STEP 5

Add the yolk of one chicken egg to the bowl.
STEP 6

Pour two hundred milliliters of kefir at room temperature into a common bowl and mix all the ingredients into the dough.
STEP 7

We collect the kneaded dough into a lump, which we then put in a plastic bag and put in the refrigerator for thirty minutes.
STEP 8

Pour one hundred and fifty grams of sugar into a deep bowl and add one tablespoon of starch.
STEP 9

Mix sugar and starch well together.
STEP 10

Sprinkle a little flour on the work surface of the table and divide the dough into two parts and lay out one half.
STEP 11

Knead each piece of dough into a thick flat cake.
STEP 12

Roll out the dough with a rolling pin to a fairly thin cake two to three millimeters thick.
STEP 13

We cut dough pieces of the required diameter using a suitable mold.
STEP 14

We stretch each dough piece a little and place a little more than half a teaspoon of sugar on it, leaving the edges free.
STEP 15

Place pitted cherries on top of the sugar.
STEP 16

We glue the ends of each dough piece with the filling well.
STEP 17

Place the dumplings, of which our recipe yields thirty-five pieces, on a floured cutting board.
STEP 18

Bring a pan with the required amount of water to a boil on the stove, add salt to taste and lay out the required number of dumplings, which we bring to readiness after boiling for about two minutes.
STEP 19

Place the cooked dumplings on a plate and serve to the dinner table.
