Homemade cherry tincture with moonshine
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1

To prepare the tincture, prepare the necessary ingredients. Cherries can be used either fresh or frozen. The main thing is that the berries are as ripe as possible. The darker they are, the better. Fresh cherries must be washed and pits and twigs removed. If you take frozen cherries, you must first defrost them at room temperature. There is no need to drain the juice.
STEP 2

Place the prepared berries in a clean jar.
STEP 3

Pour sugar over the berries and shake a little or simply stir so that the sugar is more evenly distributed between the berries. Leave the berries with sugar to stand in a warm place for 3-4 hours.
STEP 4

During this time, even defrosted berries will release a sufficient amount of juice. Mix all the berries well with the juice. There is no need to boil the berries to obtain more juice. Cherries are a fairly juicy berry, so there will be enough juice from them to dissolve the sugar.
STEP 5

Pour moonshine into the jar and cover with a lid. Place the jar in a dark, cool place for 3-4 weeks. Don't forget to shake the tincture several times a week. Why shake the jar? This is necessary so that the finished product is brighter and richer in taste.
STEP 6

After the specified time, strain the drink, pour into bottles and close with lids. Let it sit in the refrigerator for another month. By the way, you don’t have to throw away the cherries. They can be used to make Drunken Cherry cake. These seedless, alcoholic berries can be stored in the refrigerator for several months.
STEP 7

Don't rush to taste the drink. During aging, its taste will only improve. Cherry tincture may have health benefits. It has a calming effect on the nervous system, helps with colds and improves metabolism. But only if you don’t abuse it!
