Herring in Dutch

Pickled herring with potatoes is the best dinner! Prepare everything at home! Dutch herring is an ancient way of dry salting herring. Vegetables and lemon combined with pepper and bay leaves give the fish a rich aroma and taste. The fish is tender and lightly salted! Very tasty!

I had frozen herring fillets and decided to use the Dutch herring recipe. An interesting way to pickle herring with vegetables! Over the course of two days, the herring was well marinated (in my husband’s opinion, even excessively), and became spicy and aromatic. Thanks for the recipe!

Valeria, how delicious this herring is, just lovely! Should you take straight herring or frozen herring and then marinate it like that? Thank you very much for the recipe!

Of course, any salted fish is much tastier when cooked at home - you know for sure that it turns out lightly salted... I was taught the proportions of salt and sugar a long time ago: 2/3 and 1/3. This suits my taste very much, since I add sugar almost everywhere))). Unfortunately, I haven’t seen fresh herring for a long time, but we always have the freshest herring, and we pickle it too (and sprat too). I also like the proposed option, I’ve already tried it!

I would add a tablespoon of unscented vegetable oil. Ingredient extraction will increase
