  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make green onions for the winter? Prepare everything you need. Sort out the fresh green onions. It is necessary to remove yellowed or wilted feathers, if any. Wash the onions under running water and place evenly on paper towels for about two minutes to absorb the water. There is absolutely no need for excess moisture in this dish.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Finely chop the dried onion. You can choose another type of cutting, depending on what exactly you plan to use such pickled onions for.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

First you need to wash the jars with baking soda, and then sterilize them in any convenient way. Just pour boiling water over the lids. I sterilize two-hundred-gram or half-liter jars this way. I pour about a centimeter of ordinary cold tap water into each and sterilize it in the microwave for two minutes at 800 watts. The larger the jar, the more time it takes to sterilize it. Sterilize a liter bottle for three minutes.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

You can sterilize jars in any way convenient and familiar to you, in the oven or steamed. Pour half a teaspoon of salt into the bottom of the jar. And place about two centimeters of onion on top, lightly compact it with a spoon. Sprinkle with a little salt again, followed by the onion again. According to this scheme, the onions will be evenly salted.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

As a result, the jar should be filled to the hangers so that there is room for the marinade.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

In a small saucepan over low heat, bring the sunflower oil to a boil, remove from heat and let cool for a minute. Add nine percent vinegar directly to the jar. And then pour oil into the jar up to the neck. Place the lid on the jar. Be careful not to burn your hands as the oil is very hot! After cooling, the jars of onions can be stored in the refrigerator.

I have a question about the storage mode of this preparation - should it be stored only in the refrigerator, or can this onion be stored in the cellar, for example, 10 months, until the next season?

Never add vinegar to hot oil on the stove!!! It will boom so much that you will be stunned. And you'll be lucky if you don't get burns.
