Step-by-step preparation

Cooking timeCooking time: 15 mins
  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

First, prepare all the ingredients you will need. The quantities of all components in the recipe are indicated randomly. I used basil and garlic oil, you can use regular vegetable, olive or rapeseed oil.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

At the base of the asparagus, cut off thick stalks about 1.5-2 centimeters. Rinse the asparagus under running water and dry with paper towels.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

It will be more convenient to marinate the stems in a deep, wide bowl. I used a glass baking dish. Place the asparagus in a mold, pour oil on top (you can pour a little more oil or, on the contrary, a little less oil), lightly salt.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Next comes the turn of spices and seasonings. You can take absolutely any of them, just adjust the quantity to your taste. This time I used garlic powder, red sweet ground paprika and dry basil.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Use a spoon or your hands to mix all the stems carefully so as not to break them. I mixed with my hands wearing rubber gloves, it was very convenient and quick.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Along with asparagus, you can grill other vegetables on coals, such as zucchini, champignons, cherry tomatoes, etc. This time we decided to complement the asparagus with sweet pepper. It was also doused with oil and sprinkled with spices.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Leave the vegetables to marinate for literally 5-10 minutes.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Light the grill and wait until the wood burns out. Using tongs or a fork, slide the asparagus onto the charcoal grill.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Fry the vegetables for about five minutes on the grill. After a while, turn the asparagus using tongs to ensure it cooks evenly.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

When an appetizing golden brown crust appears on the vegetables, they are ready. Usually it doesn’t take much time to fry asparagus and other vegetables (it took me about four to five minutes). You can test doneness by piercing the asparagus at the base with the tip of a knife.

  11. STEP 11

    STEP 11

The asparagus is ready, you can serve it!
