Five-minute blueberry jam
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to cook blueberry jam for five minutes? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Their minimum: blueberries and sugar. We don't need water!
STEP 2
Sort the blueberries and remove leaves and any forest debris. Then rinse the berries well in cold water. Drain them in a colander and leave for a while to drain all excess moisture.
STEP 3
Pour the berries into a spacious bowl and add sugar. Shake the bowl a little so that the sugar is distributed between the berries as evenly as possible. There is no need to pour out all the sugar at once. If the berries are sweet, then you may need less than indicated. If necessary, you can add more later. Leave the berries in the sugar for several hours so that they release the juice. To make this happen faster, you can go over the berries a little with a spoon, lightly squashing them.
STEP 4
Mix the berries with sugar and put everything into a saucepan in which you will cook the jam.
STEP 5
It is best to use an enamel pan. You should not use aluminum to avoid a metal reaction with the berry juice. Bring the berries to a boil and stir until all the sugar dissolves. Taste it. If necessary, you can add a little more sugar. Boil the jam, stirring, for 5 minutes. During this time, all the sugar will dissolve, and the tender berries will have time to boil.
STEP 6
Prepare jars for jam. Wash and rinse them well. Sterilize jars in a way convenient for you. This can be done in the microwave, in the oven or over hot steam. Simply pour boiling water over the lids and lay them out so they have time to dry.
STEP 7
Pour the jam into prepared, sterilized containers and close the lids tightly. Turn closed jars over and check for leaks. Wrap the jars in a warm blanket and cool completely. Why wrap it in a blanket? This is necessary so that the jam cools as slowly as possible, thereby preparing it in the process.
STEP 8
Store the finished jam in a cool place in the cellar. Have a nice winter treat!
