Dried cherries

Prepare dried cherries - a very tasty vitamin supplement. Dried cherries at home are especially useful for use in children's diets. More often, housewives use cherries boiled in sugar syrup for drying - the resulting product is tasty, but completely devoid of vitamins during the heat treatment process. Therefore, I advise drying the berries at low temperatures in the oven or in the air. This process is long, but the result is worth it. Such cherries can be served with tea or coffee, added to porridge, cottage cheese, and any baked goods.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

To prepare dried cherries at home, take ripe cherries. You will also need any device for extracting the seeds. The easiest way is to use a garlic press with a special attachment.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Rinse the cherries well and let the water drain completely, drain the berries. Next you need to remove the seeds from each berry - this is the most labor-intensive task in this long process of preparing dried cherries. Please note that the berries splash juice! Place the berries in a bowl, from which you then drain the juice that has flowed out of them.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Place the seedless berries on a surface lined with several layers of kitchen towels. Let the cherries sit for a while, preferably 2 hours. The towels will absorb excess liquid. Line a baking sheet with parchment and spread the cherries evenly over the surface. Place in an oven heated to 60-70 degrees for 3-4 hours. Monitor the moisture content of the berries; if necessary, dry them further.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Place the dried berries in a larger bowl, sprinkle with powdered sugar, shake to distribute the powder evenly.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Store dried cherries in a dry, tightly sealed jar, or in parchment paper bags; you can store them in the freezer (this will keep them from home for longer).

This year our cherry trees did very well. I prepare cherry desserts and preparations every day. I came across a recipe for dried cherries on my favorite website; I have never prepared cherries this way in my life. I tried drying cherries in the sun, but it didn’t work. I tried drying it in an electric dryer, but it didn’t dry properly either. I gave up on this, and now I decided to try making cherries using this recipe. Dried cherries at home is a rather lengthy process, but a worthwhile one. First, I collected the cherries, sorted them, and cleaned them. Then I put it on trays with holes to drain the juice and left it in the sun. Then I laid the berries on a baking sheet on a silicone mat and dried the cherries in the oven at 60 C for 6 hours. Happened! The cherry shriveled and darkened. An excellent recipe for dried cherries at home. At the end, according to the author’s advice, I sprinkled the dried cherries with powdered sugar and shook them. I put them in jars and closed them tightly. I tried cherries, very tasty! Now there is a second baking sheet in the oven) I will now prepare desserts with dried cherries and just gobble them up))) Many thanks to the author!!!
