Chokeberry tincture

A real Russian drink, bright and original. Chokeberry tincture has a unique, incomparable taste - due to the berry itself (chokeberry). So the tincture on it stands out among all. Beautiful, with a characteristic taste and smell. In winter it’s just a pleasure!

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make chokeberry tincture? Prepare your ingredients. Chokeberry is suitable both fresh and frozen. Remove fresh leaves and twigs, wash and dry. Thaw frozen ones at room temperature. Take proven vodka. Remove the zest (yellow rind) from the lemon by rubbing the washed lemon on a fine-hole grater.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

I recommend piercing each berry with a toothpick. You can lightly press the berries with a masher (press for puree), but you should not get carried away so that the berries do not turn into puree: then it will be more difficult to filter the drink. Be careful with chokeberry juice! It has an extremely durable blue-violet pigment. If juice gets on the work surface, immediately wipe it with a damp cloth.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Place the berries in a clean and dry glass jar. I have a volume of 500 ml.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Pour the specified amount of vodka into the jar.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

And add lemon zest. It will make the drink even more interesting in taste. You can replace it with orange, lime, or any citrus zest you like. Each time the drink will be a little different.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Mix the tincture thoroughly. At this stage, you can add sugar to the jar at the rate of 2 tbsp. and more, depending on how much you like sweet liqueurs. This recipe is sugar free.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Cover the tincture with a paper towel and secure with a rubber band. Place the jar in the pantry for 2 weeks. Stir its contents every 2-3 days. Before use, filter the tincture through several layers of gauze or through a special purchased filter.

What is "sorting"?! Pure vodka?! Or water with vodka?! Explain in more detail, please.
