STEP 1

How to bake fortune cookies at home? Prepare your food. I immediately poured the vanillin into the sugar. Vanillin can be replaced with vanilla sugar. You will also need molds of a suitable size - the formed cookies will cool in them. You can take muffin tins, small cups, shot glasses. I have plastic cups
STEP 2

The whites must be beaten. Some people do this with a mixer, I used a whisk because we won’t beat until it reaches peaks. This is done quite easily. Lush foam forms in just a couple of minutes. Add sugar to the whites and beat a little more.
STEP 3

Add flour and stir the dough well. The consistency should be like liquid sour cream. If the dough seems thick to you, then dilute it with water. Now the dough needs to be put in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. While the dough is chilling, prepare a baking sheet and turn on the oven to preheat. Set the temperature to 180 degrees; for these cookies it is better to use the convection mode.
STEP 4

It is better to bake cookies on a silicone or Teflon mat. In the future, you will need speed when rolling the cookies; if they stick to the paper, then nothing will work. Or take paper whose quality you are absolutely sure of. You can choose the right paper by reading the article about the features of parchment, the link is at the end of the recipe. Using a spoon, form circles with a diameter of 6-8 cm; they should be uniform in thickness and very thin.
STEP 5

I recommend baking 4 or 6 pieces at a time, depending on the size.
STEP 6

Bake cookies at 180 degrees. Baking time varies from 4 to 8 minutes, depending on size. Mine took 8 to bake, but they are large. Look better along the edge - it should turn golden. Just don’t overcook the cookies in the oven - they will become brittle and won’t curl. Quickly remove the finished cookies from the oven and begin shaping them immediately while they are warm.
STEP 7

Place a piece of paper with a fortune in the middle of the workpiece.
STEP 8

Fold the cookies in half like a dumpling.
STEP 9

Then bend the cookies, as if trying to join the edges. Do this using the edge of the glass, it’s very convenient.
STEP 10

Place the rolled cookies in the pan so that they harden and do not unbend.
STEP 11

Immediately begin shaping the next cookie. For this reason, it is advised not to bake many cookies at once; by the time you roll everything up, the latter will already have cooled down. When all the cookies are ready, you can start baking the next batch.
STEP 12

DIY fortune cookies are ready. They freeze and do not unfold. These cookies can be baked in different colors by adding dye to the dough. After baking, cookies can be decorated by dipping them in chocolate or icing and decorating them with some sprinkles. Bon appetit!
