Ancient Lenten salad of mushrooms and pickled cucumbers
An undeservedly forgotten salad recipe for winter Lent! The recipe is very simple; all the ingredients for it will almost certainly be found in any home in winter. And yet, for some reason I had never tried it in my life before I accidentally saw it in a brochure with Lenten dishes, it seems, from a church. This happened more than ten years ago. I don’t know, maybe this recipe has already become widespread, but for me it was a pleasant discovery from the field of pre-revolutionary Russian Lenten cuisine.

STEP 1
I apologize, I already had boiled potatoes (in their jackets) from yesterday. In this case, the salad preparation time will generally be about five minutes, which is why I especially love it.
STEP 2
Peel the onions and potatoes. Cut the cucumbers and potatoes into larger pieces, onions - whatever you like, I made rings purely so that it would look better in the photo.
STEP 3
Mix all ingredients - ready!

Finally Russian cuisine! Magician, I salute your salad, it is truly one of the kings of our antiquity, because it was then that all the housewives prepared mushrooms, cabbage, cucumbers, potatoes, all the vegetables in order to spend the winter comfortably, and I remember this taste from childhood, it is so homemade and native, it is so well digested and remembered for a long time, now, of course, if you buy everything from stores, it will taste completely different, but whoever does not remember the homemade taste of this salad will also like this store-bought one! It’s just a nostalgia, thank you, you’re an entertainer!

Thanks for the recipe! I’ve never heard of such a salad; in our country, sauerkraut usually goes in a vinaigrette and simply with onions and vegetable oil. Now I need to try this salad too.
