American Donuts Donuts
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make American Donuts Donuts? Prepare your food. Remove the butter from the refrigerator in advance so that it becomes soft. The egg should also be at room temperature. Sift the flour in advance. It is important to sift the flour to saturate it with oxygen. Then the baked goods will turn out airy and rise well during baking. The amount of oil for deep frying is approximate, use your cookware as a guide.
STEP 2
Heat the water until warm, add the yeast into it. Mix them well with a spoon. Leave for 10 minutes to activate the yeast. They should bubble.
STEP 3
Break an egg into a bowl, add sugar and soft butter. Pour in the yeast mixture. Be sure to wash your eggs before using them, as even seemingly clean shells can harbor harmful bacteria. It is best to use food grade detergents and a brush.
STEP 4
Add half a portion of flour - 170 grams. Knead the dough using a mixer fitted with a bread attachment.
STEP 5
Knead the dough for about two minutes. If you don't have a mixer, no problem, knead by hand, it will just take longer.
STEP 6
Heat the milk until warm. Pour it into the dough. Continue kneading.
STEP 7
The products should be completely mixed, you will get a fairly liquid mass.
STEP 8
Add the remaining flour. Knead the dough until smooth and homogeneous. This will take about 5 minutes. The dough will be sticky, that's how it should be.
STEP 9
Collect it into a ball. Cover the bowl with the dough with a towel or film and put it in a warm place for an hour and a half to rise.
STEP 10
During this time the dough will double in volume. Knead it a little - it will become small again. Separate a small piece - about a third or a quarter. It will be more convenient to work with him.
STEP 11
Sprinkle the board with a small amount of flour. Roll out a piece of dough into a layer 1.5 cm thick. The dough is no longer so sticky and is easy to work with.
STEP 12
Using available tools, cut out large circles, mine are 8 cm. I cut with a jar lid, you can take a thin glass. Then cut a circle in the middle, I took a bottle cap. Now they sell special molds for donuts, it is much more convenient. But, in the absence of anything, you can make do with improvised means.
STEP 13
Take suitable utensils for deep frying, I have a good old cauldron, it heats up perfectly and holds heat. Pour about 2.5 cm of oil into it. Heat the oil well. You can check the readiness of the oil with a wooden stick dipped into it - bubbles will appear from it. Place donuts in deep fryer. Don't put too many at once - they will grow during frying.
STEP 14
Fry the donuts over low heat until golden brown. You will need to turn the donuts a couple of times to ensure they cook evenly.
STEP 15
Place the finished donuts on a plate with a paper towel - it will absorb excess fat. Fry all the donuts in the same way. I cut them out while one portion was roasting. Don't throw away the circles from the middle - fry them at the end. I made larger balls from the scraps and fried them at the end. It turned out completely without waste.
STEP 16
If you want to make a sugar icing like mine, then use powder and milk. You can use water or lemon juice as the liquid component. Less liquid may be required, check the condition of the glaze.
STEP 17
Take the powder and add milk to it a teaspoon at a time. Stir and look at the consistency. In order for the glaze to lay down well and not drip, it must be thick.
STEP 18
Spoon glaze onto donut. Top with candy sprinkles if desired. Serve donuts to the table. Bon appetit!
