  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to prepare tomatoes through a meat grinder for the winter? You will need fresh, aromatic tomatoes. Choose tomatoes primarily by smell: they should smell strongly of tomatoes. Fruits grown in soil are preferable. Wash the tomatoes well, remove the stems.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Grind the tomatoes with their skins through a meat grinder. You can also use all types of blenders for this purpose. Place the mixture into a saucepan with a thick bottom. I recommend just such utensils so that the tomato mass does not burn.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Over medium heat, bring the tomato mixture to a boil. As it is ready, foam will form - it must be skimmed off. You can add salt to the tomato mass. In this case, even more liquid will be released. But this is optional. You can cook with or without salt.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Cook the tomato mixture over low heat for at least 2 hours, uncovered, to allow the liquid to evaporate. Boil the tomato mass to the desired degree of thickness.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Wash the jars well and sterilize them in any convenient way. I put jars of water in the microwave for 5-7 minutes. But you can also sterilize them in the oven at 100 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Or put a spoon in each jar so that the jar does not burst, pour boiling water over it and leave for 5 minutes, then drain the water. It is enough to boil the lids for 5 minutes. Choose small jars, so that the paste is enough for 1-2 times.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Pour the hot tomato mixture into sterilized jars and close tightly with screw caps or roll up using a machine. Sterilization is not required for this preparation, but nevertheless, despite the fact that there is no vinegar in the sauce, it is perfectly stored under normal room conditions. Bon appetit!

I decided to make tomatoes through a meat grinder for the winter. I chopped the tomatoes and set them to boil. To reduce the cooking time, but at the same time obtain a thicker mass, I used a method that I have been using for several years: after boiling the tomato for about 15 minutes, I remove the pan from the heat, place a sieve on the surface of the tomato mass, in which clear liquid collects (I scoop it out with a ladle). In just 10 minutes, a thicker mass remains in the pan, which remains to be boiled a little more (15 minutes was enough for me) and can be poured into prepared jars. For me, this method of thickening tomatoes turned out to be more convenient than straining through a fabric bag or long-term boiling. Well, here we have a completely natural, very tasty homemade tomato! Thanks to the author for the recipe!

Absolutely amazing recipe! Tomatoes processed in this way are very tasty. I have been preparing this preparation for a long time, and from different varieties of tomatoes. It always turns out great! I often offer this tomato juice with dumplings or manti, and sometimes it’s just so nice to drink a glass of cold tomato drink. Natalia, thank you for sharing a great recipe!
