Saskatoon jam with lemon
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
Products for jam
STEP 2
Place a pot of water on the fire
STEP 3
When it gets hot enough, add sugar. There should be much more of it than water, because a different proportion will not produce good syrup.
STEP 4
Pour the washed shadberry into the boiling syrup mixture.
STEP 5
Mix the berries with the syrup and wait for the next peak when the viscous mixture boils. As soon as the syrup begins to gurgle, immediately reduce the cooking temperature to minimum and continue to evaporate excess moisture until the jam reaches the thickness you need.
STEP 6
The last ingredient, and not at all mandatory, is lemon juice from half a lemon. It will add sourness to the jam.
STEP 7
Before pouring the jam from the serviceberry into glass jars, make sure that they are thoroughly boiled, as are the lids. Otherwise, the jam can spoil quite quickly.
STEP 8
Aromatic jam together with a cup of hot tea will comfortably brighten up winter evenings.
