Rice in tomato sauce in a frying pan
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to simmer rice in tomato sauce in a frying pan? Prepare the necessary ingredients for this. The proportions of all ingredients can be slightly changed to suit your taste. The main thing is that the proportions of rice and water are 1/2. This way the rice has time to cook, but does not boil over and becomes crumbly. I recommend using parboiled long grain rice.
STEP 2
Peel the onion and rinse in cold water. Then finely chop the onion. To avoid irritating the mucous membranes of your eyes when cutting onions, rinse the onion and knife with cold water.
STEP 3
To cook, take a comfortable deep frying pan and keep in mind that the rice will increase in size. Heat the frying pan until hot and pour in a little vegetable oil. Add chopped onion and fry for 2-3 minutes until translucent. During this time, the onion will become softer.
STEP 4
Add tomato paste to the soft onion and mix everything. Warm the onion and tomato paste for a minute. Tomato paste can be replaced with tomatoes in their own juice, fresh tomatoes or ketchup.
STEP 5
Separately, rinse the rice several times in cold water. Then drain the rice through a strainer to drain excess water. Place the washed rice in a frying pan with the onions.
STEP 6
Pour hot water into the rice and stir everything so that the tomato paste is evenly distributed with the rice. Add salt and spices to taste. Bring everything to a boil. Cover with a lid and cook over low heat for 20-25 minutes, until the rice is soft. Follow the cooking time for the rice. It is usually indicated on the packaging.
STEP 7
The finished rice will turn red from the tomato paste, increase in size and become soft. Remove the pan from the heat and leave the rice to stand for a while under the lid so that it steams and cooks. Ready-made rice in tomato sauce can be an excellent side dish for any meat or fish dish. Bon appetit!
