Limoncello with alcohol

Surprise your guests with a bright homemade liqueur! The liqueur is very easy to prepare, the most important thing is to be patient and wait until it ripens. The liqueur turns out to be very aromatic and strong. The longer it sits, the darker and richer it becomes. Limoncello is best served chilled and in cold glasses. From these ingredients, the output is about 0.5 liters of finished liqueur. Help yourself!

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

First, take the lemons and wash them thoroughly.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

We remove the zest from clean and dry lemons, trying not to capture the white part. For the recipe we only need lemon zest, but you can make jam from the lemons themselves (that’s what I did, it turned out very tasty).

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Pour the zest into a clean, dry bottle and fill it with 96% alcohol. Close the bottle tightly and leave to infuse for 1 week in a cool, dark place.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

After a week, we take sugar and water for syrup.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Mix water and sugar in a saucepan, bring the mixture to a boil and cook the syrup for 5 minutes. Let the finished syrup cool completely.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

When the syrup has cooled completely, we take out our bottle with zest.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Strain the tincture through a strainer and cheesecloth. Mix with syrup and leave to infuse again for 1 week in a tightly closed bottle.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

After the expiration date, we take out our tincture, filter it again, pour it back into the bottle and leave it in a dark, cool place for at least another month. After a month, we take out our aromatic liqueur and you can enjoy it. Serve the liqueur chilled!

The drink is wonderful! Before my trip to Italy, to be honest, I had never even heard of such a drink. Upon arrival, I found a recipe and now I make it often, because it’s quite easy. But I didn’t make it with alcohol, I think it’s better with vodka. The taste is softer and the aftertaste is good, I take Morosha vodka. Lemons can then be used in baking, so to speak, waste-free production.

Oh, I haven’t tried making it with vodka. But you don’t have to worry about the taste, because then the alcohol is diluted with sugar syrup, so the final strength is almost the same as vodka.

Beautiful photo, Irisha. I also make it with vodka. And for my taste, the liqueur turns out too sweet, so at the stage when I add the syrup, I also pour in the strained juice of 1-1.5 lemons. The liqueur is slightly sour and even more aromatic

Olya, thank you) I spent a long time fiddling with photos, I don’t know how to take photos of drinks (next time I’ll try to make one with vodka, although I don’t drink this liqueur at all, I just try it at the very end) for me, anything stronger than wine is too strong) )) my main drinker is my dad, so I make it for him

Irisha, try it with white rum. Of course, it won’t be limoncello, but the taste is also very interesting. I always bring limoncello from Italy - it’s a wonderful aperitif, but for my taste it turns out better with white rum.
