  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to freeze broccoli for the winter at home? Prepare all the necessary products. Actually, you only need the broccoli itself. Choose heads of cabbage that are bright green in color and firm to the touch. Broccoli is a very healthy cabbage, and if properly frozen, it will practically not lose its value. But freezing it is possible in two ways.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Wash the cabbage well. This is best done with very hot water or even using a special vegetable wash. Broccoli florets are very small and can contain a lot of dirt, so they need to be washed well. Dry the cabbage. This must be done so that when frozen fresh, ice does not form on the cabbage. Cut off the large stalk and cut the head of cabbage into inflorescences of the desired size.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

If you decide to freeze fresh cabbage, then just in this form you can put the inflorescences in freezer bags. Don't put too much cabbage in one bag. It is better to make a lot of bags of cabbage in quantities that will be used immediately, because a thawed product cannot be re-frozen.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

If the freezer size allows, you can place the cabbage, florets down, in plastic or ceramic containers with a lid. This is of course much prettier, but takes up more space. This does not affect the quality of the product in any way.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Broccoli can also be frozen semi-cooked. To do this, boil the inflorescences in salted water for 5 minutes after boiling, then drain the water, and cool and dry the cabbage. Then also place in bags or containers. During cooking, the inflorescences will become a little softer and such cabbage will take up a little less space in the freezer. Freeze packaged cabbage in bags or containers immediately at very low temperatures of about -18 degrees.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Such fast freezing allows you to preserve the maximum amount of nutrients in products. If you have drained the cabbage well and frozen it correctly, the inflorescences will not stick to each other and will separate well from each other. Good luck with harvesting!

We bought a couple of heads of broccoli, cooked some of it, and had to somehow save the rest. I found a recipe on the site that tells how to freeze broccoli for the winter at home. To begin with, I divided the heads of cabbage into individual inflorescences. Then I washed these inflorescences and laid them out on a towel. I left it to dry for a couple of hours. I took the author’s advice and froze the broccoli in containers, placing them heads down. This way the inflorescences did not stick together! And thanks to good drying, no ice formed at all. A small part of the inflorescences was frozen in a bag for the experiment. They were just covered with frost. Now I know how to properly freeze this delicious cabbage.

I bought a large broccoli, but I only needed to use 200g for the recipe. inflorescences, so I decided to freeze the rest. After briefly looking for a recipe on how to freeze broccoli for the winter at home, I found the one I needed. I decided to use the second method of freezing broccoli for the winter. First, I had a blanching process, and then my green cabbage was dried on a towel and, apparently, it did not completely evaporate the moisture, since after freezing a small frost still formed on the inflorescences. In general, take your time putting the broccoli into bags, make sure it is really completely dry. Thanks to the author! The cabbage is superb in taste and color!
