Homemade mint liqueur
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make mint liqueur at home? Prepare the ingredients according to the list. You can buy mint at the market or collect it from your own plot; the second option is, of course, better. Peppermint and garden mint are suitable. If it is not possible to use fresh raw materials, you can buy dry mint at the pharmacy. As an alcoholic base, you can use vodka, alcohol or well-purified moonshine. In the first case, the drink will be softer and more delicate in taste.
STEP 2
Wash the mint well, dry it; not only the leaves, but also the stems of the plant can be used as a raw material for making liqueur. Mint goes well with many fruits; mint harmonizes especially well with lemon, so you can use it to make a drink. Place mint in a glass container and fill with vodka. Seal the dishes and put them in a dark place at room temperature for 10 days.
STEP 3
Be sure to shake the container with the tincture once a day.
STEP 4
After the specified time, filter the tincture through cheesecloth. Squeeze all the liquid from the mint greens and discard.
STEP 5
Pour clean water into a metal bowl, add sugar and put on fire. Let the mixture boil. Boil the syrup for about 5 minutes, skimming off the foam. Instead of sugar, you can use liquid honey; it will make the taste of the drink softer and create a pleasant aftertaste. In this case, there is no need to boil the liquid with honey so that the beneficial substances contained in honey do not disappear. It is enough to warm the mixture, stirring with a spoon, so that the honey is completely dissolved. cool the syrup.
STEP 6
Combine mint tincture and sugar syrup.
STEP 7
Stir the liquid and pour into bottles, passing the mixture through cheesecloth again to prevent the passage of the smallest particles of herb into the bottles.
STEP 8
Seal the bottles and store them in a cool, dark place. During long-term storage, liqueur may change color from green to olive or brown, there is nothing wrong with that, it does not affect the taste. If sediment has formed at the bottom of the bottle, the liqueur should be filtered again through gauze and cotton wool. This drink can be stored in a dark, cool place for about 2-3 years. The strength of homemade mint liqueur depends on the alcohol base and the degree of dilution with syrup.
