  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to cook compote from frozen sea buckthorn? Prepare the necessary ingredients. In addition to sea buckthorn, you can use other berries and fruits, for example, lemon for a pleasant sourness.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Thaw the sea buckthorn at room temperature; natural defrosting prevents the beneficial substances from evaporating from the berries. If you defrost sea buckthorn in the microwave, it will lose its appearance and some vitamins. If the berries were sorted and washed before freezing, then all that remains is to wait for them to thaw. Otherwise, the berries need to be carefully washed and sorted so as not to crush them.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Pour clean filtered water into a saucepan or metal cup made of non-oxidizing material and bring it to a boil. Add sugar and stir until it is completely dissolved.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Now you can add sea buckthorn berries to the syrup. This sequence allows you to preserve most of the vitamins in the berry, since sea buckthorn is immersed in hot water and does not cook in syrup for a long time.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Boil the compote over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. The compote is ready. Turn off the heat and let the drink sit covered for about 15 minutes, after which it can be served with cookies or buns or simply as a vitamin drink.

This compote is much healthier than canned compotes sealed in jars for the winter. Bon appetit!

You can freeze sea buckthorn for the winter and then make such a delicious compote from it, or you can make such wonderful jam.

I’ve long wanted to try making frozen sea buckthorn compote, I’ve heard so much about the benefits of this berry. I bought sea buckthorn in a bag, defrosted it, washed it well in a colander and added it to boiling water with sugar, as indicated in the recipe. While the compote was cooking, there was such a pleasant aroma in the kitchen. I strained the finished drink through a sieve, and added the remaining berries to the tea leaves, it will be tea with the taste of sea buckthorn) The compote turned out to be very tasty, a little sour, it was pleasant to drink both hot and cold, I also added a spoonful of honey to a glass of compote, it’s even healthier and sweeter) I recommend it to everyone.

The youngest daughter then developed a fever 🤒. And the first thing that came to mind was to prepare an immune-stimulating drink from sea buckthorn for her. After all, this miracle berry is a natural antibiotic 🏥 and a storehouse of vitamins. But not all my children 👦 🧒 👦 👧 love the specific taste of sea buckthorn. I had to improve the recipe: I added mint and dried apples. In order not to lose value, I brought the berries in syrup only to a boil without boiling and mashed them with a potato masher. (On the advice of the pediatrician, I boil the sugar for 5 minutes before adding fruit to reduce the allergic load). Then I strained it through a colander with a large hole so that the resulting pulp “didn’t just go” into the trash. It’s even healthier with honey, of course!
