Corn hominy in Moldavian style

A tasty, filling dish for a family lunch. My relatives always treat me to this dish when I come to visit sunny Moldova. The culinary recipe is called “Mamalyga”. It is prepared from finely ground corn grits. It is very important. If you want to cook hominy, then buy it, and not the flour or cereal from which corn porridge is usually cooked. It is also equally important to acquire a cauldron for preparing this food. Of course, you can make it in an ordinary pan, but then you won’t feel the flavor of Moldavian cuisine. It’s even better to cook corn hominy in Moldavian style at a dacha or in a village where there is a stove. But it can also be done at home.

I love Moldovan cuisine! I especially love hominy. With sour cream and sheep cheese. Thanks to the author for the simple and accurate recipe. When preparing it, I used corn flour, not grits, and it turned out very tasty too. The next day, the remains of the hominy were formed into balls and heated in a frying pan with a small amount of vegetable oil. I recommend!

The cooking time depends on the grinding of the corn. I had small grains (like semolina), so it took 25 minutes to cook, but if the grains are larger, then follow the recipe!
