  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make candied oranges? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Wash the oranges under running water. You can dry the fruit with paper towels.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Using a special loop on a vegetable peeler, you can make longitudinal cuts in the peel, connecting the opposite “poles” of the orange. Then the candied fruits will turn out in the form of cute flowers.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Cut the oranges into slices approximately 5 mm thick. Remove all seeds. You can do this later. I noticed that if you remove the seeds from the orange slices after cooking, the integrity of the pulp is better preserved.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

If you make the slices thinner, they may burn during further baking in the oven.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Place the orange slices in a saucepan, cover with filtered water and add sugar, reserving 2 tablespoons for later use. Cook the oranges in the sugar syrup over medium heat for about 20 minutes after boiling, stirring occasionally. It is believed that this will remove excess bitterness from the crust. While the oranges are boiling in syrup, turn on the oven at 150 degrees.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

After this, use a slotted spoon to transfer the candied fruits to a baking sheet lined with high-quality parchment paper, which will not allow them to stick. I use non-stick Teflon sheet. Sprinkle the oranges with the remaining sugar and dry the candied fruits in the oven at 150 degrees for 15 minutes. It may take a little more or a little less time, it all depends on what kind of candied fruit you want: moist or drier. Bon appetit!

I had a little difficulty with the cuts. First of all, I made them rare, that was my mistake. Secondly, they were not deep, so the drawing was not visible so well, again my mistake. Well, to be honest, I had a hard time making these cuts using the tip of a vegetable peeler. I really liked the essence of this recipe; the candied fruits turned out good. The photo shows the result of baking candied fruits for 20 minutes. True, then I dried them for a long time in order to use them as a decoration for a cupcake or cake. Thanks for the recipe!
