  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make brushwood from batter? In order to prepare such beautiful curly brushwood, you will need a special mold, which consists of different attachments and a long rod onto which the attachments themselves are directly screwed.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

To prepare the dough, beat a chicken egg into a small bowl, add sugar and salt, and also pour in 95% ethyl alcohol. Using a whisk, lightly whisk all ingredients. If you do not have ethyl alcohol, replace it with vodka.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Then pour room temperature water into the bowl and stir lightly again. It is better to take purified, filtered water. Since the quality of water can affect the taste of the finished dish.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Start adding the flour sifted through a sieve or using a special mug in parts, constantly stirring the dough with a whisk. The consistency of the dough should be approximately the same as for pancakes, maybe a little thicker. Be prepared that you may need less or more flour. In order to achieve a more uniform dough consistency without lumps, you can use a mixer.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Take a small but wide bowl and heat the vegetable oil in it. I took a wide ladle so that I could fry several pieces of curly brushwood at once. Next, select a nozzle and screw it onto a long rod. Place the mold in well-heated oil and let it warm up for 30 seconds. If the mold is not heated, the dough will not rise.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

With quick movements, remove the pan, shake off excess oil and lower it into the dough, as shown in the photo. Do not lower the mold completely into the dough, but so that you can see the metal shaped part. Otherwise, the brushwood will not be removed from the mold. Next, quickly transfer the form with the dough into the oil, dip it and hold for a few seconds. The brushwood will either move away from the shape on its own, or you will need to help it a little to detach from the nozzle using a fork.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Fry the brushwood on both sides and transfer it to a plate lined with paper towels. This will remove excess oil. It is worth noting that you need to fry the brushwood over medium heat, and perhaps even less - it’s all in the mold. If the mold overheats, the dough will set too quickly and remain in the bowl with the dough. Heating will depend not only on the strength of the fire, but also on the container in which you will cook the firewood.

In the classic version, vodka is added to the dough for brushwood instead of alcohol.

I decided to remember my childhood, my mother often fried such “roses”. Complete disappointment, apparently tastes have changed over the years, very greasy, even though they were on a paper towel, I threw everything away. Apparently in the 80s there wasn’t much choice, they ate whatever they had... Sorry if I offended anyone.
