Tomatoes in jelly are awesome
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make awesome tomatoes in jelly? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. For the recipe, take tomatoes that are strong, fleshy, and not watery, so that they hold their shape well and do not fall apart during cooking. Wash the tomatoes well under running water and dry.
STEP 2
Take the gelatin and place it in a deep bowl (as it will increase in volume). Pour in 2 cups of water and let it swell. At this time, let's take care of the remaining ingredients. Sterilize jars and lids. To do this, wash the jars with baking soda in running water and place them upside down in a cold oven. Preheat the oven to 150 degrees and sterilize 1 liter jars for 15 minutes. Boil the lids or pour boiling water over them.
STEP 3
Take the onion, peel it and cut it into rings; if you wish, you can choose a different cutting method. Wash the bay leaves and black peppercorns and place on a napkin to absorb excess moisture. Place a bay leaf, a few peppercorns and chopped onion into rings at the bottom of each jar.
STEP 4
Take tomatoes, cut large and medium ones into quarters, small ones - in half, so that all the slices are approximately the same size. Place the tomato slices in jars, pack tightly, but do not stuff them so that they do not release juice and there is room for the gelatin marinade.
STEP 5
Top with onion and another bay leaf.
STEP 6
How to cook the marinade? Take a pan, pour salt into it.
STEP 7
Add sugar to the pan.
STEP 8
Fill with water, stir. When the salt and sugar dissolve, taste and add more salt or sugar if necessary. Bring the resulting brine to a boil. Next, pour in the vinegar essence. Add the gelatin solution to the pan, stir well until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Bring to a boil again, but do not boil (although it has recently been proven that boiling does not affect the functioning of gelatin).
STEP 9
Pour the resulting marinade with gelatin over the tomatoes up to the shoulders or slightly higher and place in a pan filled with hot water, placing a linen napkin on the bottom. Bring to a boil and sterilize liter jars for 15 minutes.
STEP 10
Cover the sterilized preparations with lids and place them under a fur coat. To do this, wrap the jars with a blanket or blanket. In this case, the jars do not need to be turned upside down so that the jelly hardens correctly. When the pieces have cooled, place the jars of jelly in the refrigerator to completely harden. From the specified amount I got 4 liter jars of tomatoes in jelly.
