Pork roll in onion skins
Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to bake boiled pork roll in onion skins? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Take a whole piece of lard with a meat layer. There is no need to use a very thick piece, as it will be very difficult to roll it into a roll.
STEP 2
Using a sharp knife, cut the piece crosswise, as if cutting off one layer. But don't cut all the way through.
STEP 3
In a separate plate, mix all the spices for the roll - salt, pepper, dry mustard, basil. You can add a little paprika. Mix everything. You can also use your favorite spices to taste.
STEP 4
Coat the entire piece with the spices, rubbing them in with your hands as best you can. Use all the prepared spices. Don't be afraid that there will be a lot of them. When cooking, all the excess will go away. You can also add pieces of carrots, bell peppers or dill sprigs to the filling.
STEP 5
Then start rolling the roll. Roll up the cut part without the skin. And then roll the roll into the skin in one piece. Tie the outside of the roll tightly with thread in several layers so that it is securely tied.
STEP 6
Place some onion skins in a saucepan and place the roll in it. Then add more husks and bay leaves. Fill everything with water. You may need a little more or less; the water should cover the roll completely. Place the pan on the fire. Cook the roll in the onion skins after boiling for 2-2.5 hours at a gentle boil. The exact time depends on the thickness of the resulting roll. The article on saucepans, link at the end of the recipe, will help you choose the ideal pan.
STEP 7
Remove the finished roll from the pan, cool to room temperature, then put it in the refrigerator for several hours. To give the roll a richer aroma, you can grease the outside with chopped garlic. Cut the roll into circles and serve. When frozen, such a roll can be cut into fairly thin slices, which will be very useful for sandwiches. Bon appetit!
