Moonshine whiskey
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1
How to make whiskey from moonshine at home? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. You will need homemade moonshine. It must be well purified: either with charcoal or with a second distillation, separating the first and last 100 ml. The strength of the moonshine must be at least 45 degrees. You will need oak bark - you can collect it yourself or buy it at the pharmacy. Dried prunes can be replaced with the same amount of dried apricots.
STEP 2
It is better to make charcoal yourself from some fruit trees: apple, cherry, oak or birch. Then grind the charcoal and add it to the whiskey infusion container.
STEP 3
Pour boiling water over the bark and leave for 10 minutes.
STEP 4
Then drain the water, and also add the bark to the bowl where you will infuse the whiskey.
STEP 5
You can add pieces of oak wood. But this is optional.
STEP 6
Also add unwashed prunes to the bowl for infusion.
STEP 7
Heat the moonshine to 45 degrees. If you don’t have a thermometer, heat it approximately: if you dip your finger in the liquid, it becomes a little hot. Just a little bit!
STEP 8
Pour the moonshine into the bowl with the rest of the ingredients. Stir.
STEP 9
Add moonshine to the very neck - there should be no free space for air in the jar. Cover the container tightly with a lid and store in a cool, dark place. You need to insist for at least 10 days. I recommend leaving it for at least 15 days. It is after this period of time that you can start tasting the drink - if you are not satisfied with the taste, then continue to insist and taste it in another week.
STEP 10
Then strain the drink through several layers of gauze. It’s even better to strain 2-3 times to remove traces of coal and bark. Pour the whiskey into bottles and let it brew for a couple of days.
STEP 11
Homemade whiskey is no less aromatic than store-bought versions of this drink. Strength is 45-50 degrees depending on the initial strength of the moonshine. Observe moderation when drinking alcohol! Enjoy your tasting!
