Fish cake made from mastic

Ingredients
Step-by-step preparation
STEP 1

How to make a fish cake from mastic? Prepare the necessary ingredients for the dough. Sift the flour through a sieve. Thanks to this, the finished biscuit will be airier and fluffier. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees in advance. Using a mixer, beat the eggs with sugar into a white fluffy mass. Add flour, baking powder, cocoa and, using gentle movements from bottom to top, knead into a homogeneous dough. Pour the dough into a baking dish and place in the oven for 35-40 minutes.
STEP 2

Cut the completely cooled cake into pieces 3x3 cm. Dilute the liquid part of the jam with warm water and soak the sliced cake with this syrup.
STEP 3

Prepare the necessary ingredients for the cream. The fattier the sour cream, the tastier the cream will be. Using a mixer, beat the sour cream with sugar and vanilla.
STEP 4

Collect the fish. To do this, place some of the cream on a tray and place a layer of cubes in it. Place another portion of the cream on top and also place the biscuit cubes in it. And so, layer by layer, form the body of the fish from all parts of the cake.
STEP 5

You can place cherries, candied fruits, and nuts between the cubes if desired and to your taste. Place the finished “fish” in the refrigerator for 20 minutes to soak.
STEP 6

Prepare the necessary ingredients for the leveling cream. Remove the butter from the refrigerator in advance. Beat softened butter with condensed milk. Apply the resulting cream onto the cooled cake and smooth it out. Place the cake in the refrigerator to harden.
STEP 7

Roll out the mastic into a thin pancake and cut out circles for the scales.
STEP 8

Form fish scales from circles from the tail to the base of the head.
STEP 9

Cut out the head of the fish from the mastic and place it in its place.
STEP 10

Also cut out the fins and tail from the mastic. Apply a pattern to them.
STEP 11

Attach the fins and tail to their places on the fish.
STEP 12

Dilute the dye in water to the desired color, add kandurin for shine and paint the fish with a brush.
STEP 13

Apply the paint evenly, covering every crevice.
STEP 14

Use mastic to make and decorate the eyes and mouth of the fish. Pin them in place. Let the paint dry.
STEP 15

The fish-shaped cake is ready. Bon appetit everyone!
