  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to cook compote from apples and oranges? Prepare your food. The number of apples and oranges may vary depending on their size - take more small fruits, less large ones. Also consider your taste preferences. Choose aromatic varieties of apples with a bright taste; they will make a tastier compote. You can also increase or decrease the amount of sugar.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Take a pan suitable for cooking compote. It is better if it is enameled or stainless steel. Do not use aluminum; the metal may oxidize from citrus juice. Pour cold, clean water into it. Place on high heat. While the water is boiling, prepare the fruit. Wash them very thoroughly under running water using soda and a hard sponge to wash off the waxy layer that is often used to prevent spoilage.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Cut the apples into quarters, remove the core and stems. Then cut the quarters into wedges. Remove the zest—the outer layer of skin—from the oranges, leaving the white layer that tastes bitter. It is convenient to do this with a vegetable peeler.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

Squeeze the juice out of the oranges. You can do this with a juicer or any available means. If the fruits have seeds, place a strainer on the glass to prevent them from getting into the juice.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

Place the chopped apples, zest and sugar into a saucepan of boiling water. Stir and leave the compote to simmer gently over low heat for 10 minutes. Cover the pan with a lid.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

After time, pour orange juice into the compote, stir, turn off the heat. Leave the compote to cool under the lid.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Pour the finished compote into a glass container and put it in the refrigerator. Serve chilled. Bon appetit!

I made a compote of apples and oranges for 1 liter, and this is from one orange and one apple, I added 50 grams of sugar, if you want sweeter sugar, add a little more, 20-30 grams more. This is the fastest compote. First of all, I put the pan on high heat, while the water was heating up, I washed and cut the fruit. Added sugar to the pan. I threw the fruit into boiling water, boiled it for a few minutes, that’s it! Let it sit for half an hour and the compote is ready! Strained into a bottle. Tasty, slightly sweet, this compote will appeal to both children and adults. Why buy juices? After all, in such a short time you can make your own, natural drink, from just two fruits, but a whole liter comes out.

This is a very unusual compote for me, because I always cook it from seasonal fruits and berries) But I wanted something exotic. Moreover, compote of apples and oranges cooks very quickly. I made half a batch to try. I washed the orange with a brush and soda to accurately remove the coating inherent in citrus fruits. I squeezed the juice out of the orange using a fork, it turned out to be 100 ml. At the end of cooking, I added the juice along with the pulp. And after steeping, I strained it and got a clear, slightly yellowish drink. The taste is very pleasant, slightly tart from the zest. When chilled, it seems more tender and sweet) I added sugar according to the recipe, this sweetness was enough for me. Kompotik perfectly quenches thirst and gives the vitamin boost needed in spring!
