Blackcurrant liqueur

Aromatic, rich, moderately strong berry liqueur! This drink will appeal not only to women, but also to the stronger half. To prepare it, you don’t need a lot of ingredients, just good alcohol, berries and sugar. The longer the liqueur is infused, the tastier it becomes.

  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

Let's prepare the products. I advise you to take good quality alcohol, the taste of the future product depends on this. Berries can be taken either fresh or frozen. Leaves are an optional ingredient, but desirable. They add flavor to the liqueur.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Wash the currants and dry them well. I have frozen berries, I just defrosted them a little. Next, you need to chop the currants. I don’t recommend doing this too much; in the future, the drink will need to be filtered; the puree will interfere with this. Simply mash the berries with a fork. I smashed them with an immersion blender and they turned out a little small.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Place currant leaves in a clean jar. They must first be sorted out, separating the sick and spoiled ones, and washed.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

    Add crushed berries.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

    Fill with vodka.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Stir well, cover with a lid and place in a cool, dark place. Not in the refrigerator! I put it in the closet. Let it sit for two weeks. Every three days you need to take out the jar and shake the contents thoroughly.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

After two weeks, you can continue cooking. First, cook the sugar syrup. To do this, place sugar and water in a saucepan, put it on the fire and bring to a boil.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Cook for about a minute, the sugar should completely dissolve. Next, stop heating and leave the syrup to cool to room temperature.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

Strain the finished tincture through several layers of gauze. I placed a sieve lined with cheesecloth directly over the ladle of syrup. It was at this stage that I realized that I had chopped the berries too much. I had to help the tincture with a spoon and then squeeze it out.

  10. STEP 10

    STEP 10

The tincture mixed with sugar syrup has almost become a liqueur. For the best effect, you need to let it brew for a couple more weeks, but you can use it immediately, after two hours. The finished drink must be carefully poured into bottles using a funnel.
