Dishes with frozen pumpkin
Pumpkin is an autumn vegetable that can be purchased in its fresh, natural form for a limited period of time. At the same time, there are so many dishes from it that it becomes a shame when all of them are available for only a few months. This vegetable is so versatile that literally everything is prepared from it, from appetizers and soups to desserts and baked goods.
Frozen pumpkin is not always available in the store. But cooking at home is fine. Let's assume that you have already prepared bags (portioned) and are just wondering what to make delicious from frozen pumpkin. But first you need to decide how to defrost it correctly. There are some nuances here.
This pumpkin cannot be put in the microwave or left to thaw at room temperature. In most cases, it is frozen cut into cubes or pureed. And if you defrost it using the usual methods, the pumpkin becomes limp and turns into mush. Instead, when cooking, it is immediately added to the dish in the required quantities. For example, for porridge - in a pan of boiling water. For pureed soup - in a blender (if it is not yet crushed) or also in boiling water (if it is already pureed). If boiled pumpkin has been frozen, it should be added to the dish last.
Everything you defrost should be cooked the same day. Do not put back into the freezer.
As for frozen puree, it can be brought to the desired temperature either on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator or in the microwave. It is suitable for making pies, pies, fillings, both simple and combined, for baking, sweet and savory. That is, in its normal form it can be added to the dough.
Raw grated pumpkin can also be thawed before cooking, just like boiled puree. It is added to the dough, and to the filling, and to frying, and to any second dish, to minced meat, to soups. Moreover, as stated above, you need to defrost only if you need to make dough and minced meat. In all other cases, it is suitable to add in ice cream.
It is better not to defrost frozen pumpkin in cubes; place it as is when cooking. But it must undergo heat treatment.
