  1. STEP 1

    STEP 1

How to make strawberries in syrup for the winter? Prepare the necessary ingredients. There are only two of them - strawberries and sugar. To cook berries in syrup, I like to use small berries.

  2. STEP 2

    STEP 2

Wash the strawberries well. To do this, put it in a deep bowl and fill it with plenty of cold water so that it floats on the surface. Stir, catch the berries with your hands and place in a colander to drain excess liquid. If there was a lot of sand in the strawberries, then repeat the washing process. Tear off all the tails of a clean berry, then place it in a spacious bowl.

  3. STEP 3

    STEP 3

Cover the berries with half (or a little more) of the sugar. Leave the berries for several hours to release their juice.

  4. STEP 4

    STEP 4

After a few hours, heat the strawberries until the sugar dissolves. And then drain the resulting juice from the berries and bring it to a boil. Add the remaining sugar. Boil the syrup for an hour over low heat. To make the syrup thicker, its cooking time can be slightly increased.

  5. STEP 5

    STEP 5

After an hour of cooking, pour hot syrup over the berries. You can add a little more sugar. It is due to the large amount of sugar that the syrup will become thicker.

  6. STEP 6

    STEP 6

Return the berries and syrup to the heat, bring to a boil and boil for 3-5 minutes. If foam forms on the surface, remove it with a spoon. We won't need it.

  7. STEP 7

    STEP 7

Rinse the jars well and sterilize in a way convenient for you. This can be done over hot steam, in the oven or in the microwave. Pour hot strawberries in syrup into prepared jars and close the lids, which you also first pour boiling water over.

  8. STEP 8

    STEP 8

Wrap the closed jars in a warm blanket and cool them like that. Why wrap it in a blanket? This is necessary so that the workpieces cool as slowly as possible, thereby the syrup will become even thicker.

  9. STEP 9

    STEP 9

These delicious berries in syrup can be opened in the winter and served as a tasty addition to pancakes or tea. This delicacy sells out instantly. Very tasty! Enjoy your winter treat!

From the first fragrant berries I made strawberries in syrup for the winter. We love strawberry jam in different forms. But this is my favorite cooking method. I wash my strawberries the same way. Very convenient, all the sand settles to the bottom of the bowl. The main thing is to quickly remove the berries so that they do not have time to become saturated with water. I had 1 kg. strawberries in their pure form, so I took the same amount of sugar. Sometimes I add less, but then the berries don’t look very bright. Strawberries with sugar were infused in the refrigerator overnight. I boiled it a little, and then began to reduce the syrup over low heat. Forty minutes was enough for me, but this is a matter of taste. The jam is simply superb! Bright, tasty, aromatic! The berries are beautiful, translucent, dense. Children will be happy in winter.
